| Resumo | The INPE's quiescent plasma device has been modified to incorporate a magnetiC picket fence. This allows the study of electron diffusion across the multidipole magnetic fiel] of the fence, and possibilitates the formation of a two electron temperature target plasma. The diffusion gives rise to a drifting cold electron population, which, for drift velocities above a few times the ion acoustic velocity, can excite ion acoustic turhulence in the target plasma. The anomalous resistivity and the effective collision frequencv are derived from the experimental results. The interrelationship between the ion acoustic turbulence and the setting up of a double layer-like potential profile is discussed. | |||
